Light Snow on Saturday, Next System a Ways Out
A dusting is possible Thursday night. Then, a weak system from the west northwest comes over Colorado on Saturday. The WRF Model is calling for 2 ½” of snow, the American and European Models are calling for 1” of snow, and the Canadian Model is calling for ½” of snow.
Then, a system (also from the west northwest) is set to hit Colorado around Thursday January 14, though that’s pretty far away to make decent predictions about (and there may well be a jet streak component to that system which makes it even less predictable). The American Model is calling for 1”, but the European and Canadian Models are calling for nothing.
Then, even further into forecast fairyland, on Saturday January 16, Canadian Model is calling for 3” of snow, the American Model is calling for 1” of snow, but the European Model isn’t calling for anything.
If there’s any good news, it’s that it probably won’t be insanely windy, like it normally is, for the next little while.
Retrospective Discussion:
Eldora reported 3” of snow on Wednesday morning – so the Canadian Model once again performed the best, and the American Model once again way underpredicted the snow.
