This work week looks to be warm with temperatures hovering around freezing.  There looks to be a touch of snow on Wednesday evening (4” per the WRF Model, 1” per the Canadian and RDPS Models, a dusting per the American Model, and nothing per the NAM Model).  This is a bummer as all the models were far more promising about this storm late last week than they are now.

As for this weekend, temperatures may drop a bit, especially on Sunday, but nothing too cold.  It looks to snow a little over the weekend, with weekend snow totals of 3” per the Canadian Model and 2” per the American Model.

Light snow and colder temperatures look to probably be in the cards for next week per both the American and Canadian Models.

Retrospective Discussion:

The Eldora Snowcam showed 2” of snow in the last system, so the Canadian and Icon Models were dead on, while the WRF Model was too high, and the American, European, and UK Met Models were too low.

Cheers.

Geeky Notes:

References to the American Model are to the American (GFS) Model grid including Brainerd Lake with an average elevation of 9,439’.  References to the Canadian Model are the Canadian (GDPS) Model grid including Brainerd Lake with an average elevation of 10,253’.  References to the WRF Model are the CAIC WRF Hi-Res Model point forecast for Eldora Ski Area with an elevation of 9,189’.  References to the European Model are to the European (ECMWF) Model on a point with my cursor at my best estimate of Eldora Ski Area.  For big picture overviews, I tend to rely on the American Model, not because I think it is the most accurate, but because (i) it is free and (ii) I like its interface.
